2015 Bible Reading Challenge

BibleReadingChallenge

Have you tried to read the Bible through and just have not been able to make it the whole way? Are you ready to try again? Would some accountability be helpful to you? Or perhaps you read the Bible through regularly but would love to have a community of believers reading along with you. Or maybe you have never read the Bible from a chronological version but have always wanted to.

If any of the above is true, then you have come to the right place!

As you already know (if you read this blog regularly or follow the Growing4Life Facebook page), I am currently reading through the entire Bible for the first time ever this year (2014). While I am ashamed to admit this is my first time the entire way through God’s Word, I want to encourage anyone else who has tried the same thing multiple times and failed. If I can do this, you can do this!

Because I whole-heartedly believe that knowing God’s Word is so critical to my Christian life, I have decided to read it through again in 2015, this time using a chronological study plan.

I want to invite you to join me!

You can choose one of two ways to join along. I am going to use the Bible below. I chose this Bible for two specific reasons. First, after reading through the Bible in the NIV version this past year, I found it a very weak version with several interpretation issues. Because of this, I really wanted to read an NKJV version this next time and this one was the most reasonably priced version that didn’t appear to have any major red flags. Second, the fact that I found a reading plan (see below) to go along with it was also a big impetus in me choosing this Bible. That way, you can participate using your own Bible. I recognize that some of you just prefer to use your own Bible or a different version or do not have a lot of extra money. This reading plan gave many more the option to participate. I am excited about that!

If you do decide to buy the actual Bible, then you can order it from Christianbook.com ($11.99) or Amazon ($16.98). At least those are the prices as of right now (11/14). Click on the pictures to take you to the websites–

Click here if you would like to use your own Bible, but want to read along using the same chronological reading plan. Be sure to click on the RBL Chron 2-page layout, which will take you to a PDF of the full year plan. This plan is identical to the one in the Bible the rest of us will be reading, so we will always be reading the same thing. This will help you to save money and give you the option to use a different version if you prefer (please note: I do highly recommend sticking with the KJV, NKJV, ESV, or NASB. These are the best versions available currently).

If you do join the challenge, I would like to encourage you to become an e-mail subscriber, as I will send out occasional encouragement and tips regarding our challenge just to my subscribers. You will find a box in the upper right hand corner of this page where you can enter your e-mail. I promise that I will never give (or sell) your e-mail address to anyone else.

As a free bonus gift to you, I will send you three Word documents that will help you to organize your prayer life. I created these for my own personal use many years ago and realized that perhaps some of my readers would find them useful. Click on the pictures if you would like a closer look–

I would also like to encourage you to follow Growing4Life on Facebook, where I will be posting applicaple verses, thoughts, and quotes to keep us encouraged in our endeavor throughout the year! Please click on the “Like me on Facebook” button you will find on the upper right hand column of this page to join the G4L Facebook community.

I am looking so forward to this challenge for 2015! I hope that you will consider joining me on this adventure of knowing and understanding God better through His Inspired and Inerrant Word.

  2. Leslie,
I will join you in this. I have a NKJV that I will use. I had been reading the Bible through each year for about 5 years, then the last couple I have became slack. This will be good.
